men and labour pains

haha. i have to write this down.

so my brother checked his wife in the hospital, yesterday at 9am. when i called, he told me calmly, "oh its nothing. she's laughing. the doctor just inserted this pill down under. and ohh. her mom is in here too!"

to my response, "did the doctor break her waterbag? and what? her mom in there too? so lucky?!"

a little information on my brother. he's a malaysian, works in Singapore, decided to buy a house in JB (without parents knowledge) and decided to marry his wife in less than 3 months of knowing each other.

and my brother also decided not to let his wife give birth in Singapore. which is silly to many of us for we can help her out surely, eventhough she doesn't fancy us. sigh.

that phonecall was at 11am. at 5pm, while i was cutting my nails and it was raining heavily, i decided to sms my brother, "so how many cm already open down under?"

he called me and this was how quirky the conversation was.

he: alah. aku kat rumah nie.

me: what the fuck u doing at home?

he: doctor suruh balik, relax.

me: ok. so how is she?

he: doctor taruk tu pill tadi pagi. sekarang tengah contraction tu ah. lambat lagi tu nak beranak. baru contractions. aku rasa esok beranak. sini 48hrs baru emergency caesarean. kau dulu 12hrs jek kan?

me: oit selenger. tu contractions da tanda nak beranak lah. kalau nak tunggu 48 jam mana ader energy nak push. tak baca buku ker? (confirm he didn't read up on labour process!!)

he: apa tu contractions? aku tgk dia relax je cam tak sakit.

me: hah...tu contractions punya sakit kan macam kau kena cerit berit memulas pastu takde jamban nak melepas. kena tahan tahan. tu baby kau kat dalam tgh memulas mulas perut bini kau. haha...(i think i melebih lah kan, just to thrill him!)

he: haha..gitu ke. oh. k lah bye.

i was surprised that he went home instead of being by his wife. if my husband did that, i surely nagged yelled at him "where is your head at?".

then at 11pm, mom called me. his wife would have to do the emergency caesarean. mom said my brother was in shocked, sad and clueless stage.

i called him. he hung up his phone. i understood he might be busy, rushing here and there, worrying and anticipating the new life. and that reminded me of how i was when my labour with littleboy.

my hubby did read the book, he said so. he was calm, telling me not to scream 'aahh' instead keep saying 'Ya Allah'. he even went for breakfast and prayed zohor and asar. i knew he was clueless, he said so too. while i was handling the contractions, i saw him sleeping and playing his psp and holding my hands.

his mom and sister were at the lobby, waiting anxiously. it would be great if the hospital allowed her to be in my labour ward. you know, woman and woman might help more.
then i watched him cried, as i cried upon hearing the bad news - emergency caesarean, and he cried further as i pleaded with the gynae and threw away the surgery forms. and i screamed for him when he had to transfer all our things to a ward a few storey up. it was like a hindustani movie lah.

he got busy, with the things, rushing back down to wheel me to OT, informing his mom and sister and welcoming his son, pushing him to nursery and making sure he's all fine and then came back down, waited for an hour to see me, all crashed. it was touching. and i knew he panic but he overcame it.

but with the arrival of babygirl, he was handy. he knew the procedure and went thru it like a pro. he didn't cry but he smile when he welcomed his daughter and wheeled her to nursery.

alright then, back to my brother's story. i called him back an hour later, and he answered.

me: how are u?

he: i'm okay.

me: how's your wife and your baby?

he: she's okay and baby is a girl and she's okay.

me: so how come caesarean?

he: she was in alot of pain. tu je aku tau. anyway she chose the half asleep one.

me: oh she took the epidural.

he: sini takde tu epidural.

me: eh tu epidural lah dol. anyway ur baby..cute tak?

he: (voice cheered up) yeah. 2.9kg, banyak rambut, mata dah celik tgk aku.

me: ahaha....congratulations. brapa hari stay hospital?

he: a'ah eh. ah bye. aku nak check dgn staff.

aka...rabak kan abang aku?! haha.. that's only my brother. and he finally has a daughter. i'm happy for him and we happy for him. I wonder what her name is.

i couldn't tag along to see them. so i am waiting for a photo snapped by dad's hp. mom is so cheeky. she said his daughter is prettier than mine. Chey!

oklah, nak pack and sleepover at my mom's crib. hubby burung hantu shift tonight. he's like sleeping everywhere now, on the bed then kena kicked out by the kids nap time and now he is on our sofa bed. kesian sungguh.

as for iqbal, haha u share the same birthday with my 4th niece. congratulations!

Bahan2 Bahaya untuk kesihatan kita...

'i got this from my multiply friend. i think it is a very useful information for our community. it amuses me how food alone can either happy us up and upset us down. i observe this in me ~ that its weird to know :

- people don't eat properly once diagnose with illness (me sometimes ignorant about this..and suffer the consequences... i guess many many are ignorant about this too!)
- people don't eat vegetables and fruit
- people who only eat vegetables and fruit
- people who can't eat food cooked without MSG
- people who are too hook on sambal belacan + chilli pedas pedas (too much chilli can spoilt your inner system)

let me quote what hubby says: 'its tiring to inform one that refuse to listen, and if one doesn't care about their health and what they eat, then its one lost. i gave up.'

so these people; we often bumped into in our lives. please don't get offended. i just want to let it out from my system.'

2. PENGGEMAR SATE
Kalau Anda makan sate, jangan lupa makan timun setelahnya.

a.Kertas.

13 October 2007/ Raya Puasa

Hi all. It was a blast celebrating Aidilfitri this year. Ramadhan has made me a more patience person indeed, those quiet times at home alone made me think wisely.

Its our 3rd Rayer together as husband and wife, 2nd Rayer together as husband, wife and littleboy, and our 1st Rayer together as husband, wife, littleboy and babygirl. One complete family.

And every year we play it fair by alternating the first day/ first house/touch down rayer-ing between my parents and his parents. Only this year, I decided to touch down at my own house for the first time.

We went visitings to many many houses, bumping into old new relatives, wondering why we only meet once a year. Alas, the most houses we conquered were hubby's side. I guess, it was nice to be closed to your relatives. Compare to mine which is mostly over in Malaysia, so visiting their houses are more tough.

So I'll let the pictures do the talking for 3 days of Rayer-ing til we dropped!

eve of raya

1st day of raya

2nd day of raya

3rd day of raya

the end.

HeY-O...

almost a month i didn't update this area. i guess i've been busy with multiply and hotmail.

and i've been thinking of making money out of selling things...

so that i can have extra $$$ to spend on other things.... sound pathetic.

sigh. anyway... my son is going to turn 16mths now, still tah-teh-ing... don't know when he will let go and walk by himself. even so... i'd be pissed if he decides to walk not in front of me... lol.

my daughter is 2mths old now... getting heavier, eh no..semangat. she likes to do this sweet cute cooeing... so different from my son.

i've learnt that i can be too protective as a mom. i need to let go. but its hard to let go when sometimes... trust is an issue. its like amanah.

and currently, my son has been rotating between my house, my mom's and my mil's. Sometimes I followed him too, when i felt that trust is an issue.

and the son is at my mom's now... my mom just called to say that my son is missing me and the abah... tee-hee-hee.. time to fetch him back later before we visit Ita at KKH.

and the son will be bring over to my mil's tomorrow night. and this time, i won't follow coz i want to test the 'trust is an issue' factor. previously, i cried knowing that i felt betrayed in some ways... aka not knowing where my son's whereabout for the whole Saturday...and that destroyed the letting go process abit. sigh.

so its a simple deal. even my parents obey it. it is called..informing the parents (some kind of permission) before bring the child from one place to the other. thanks.

i wonder if he cries for the parents, when he is over there... you might never know...right?

I Got It!

My brother was waiting for my answer to his question. To cut the chase, he asked "so what do you want for your birthday?"

I thought hard and for long. Last time, before neither of us were married, he would always give me expensive things like handphone or computer or simply money. Now since, we are married and I a bit paiseh to mintak more than beyond $50 buckz worth of things, I told him what I would like to have.

He got the sms from me on the title and author.

The next day, after my gynae check up, we met up and he passed it to me. I was so excited that I shivered when I touched the cover. Simply my favourite author yet so far, beside Carmen Reid.

I have her whole collection but I'm missing one or two. Probably lent to some friends and I forgot who and they forgot to return back. I've started reading and I simply can't put it down. It's hilarious.

So thank you my brother. Hee hee... I'm still waiting for my surprise from my hubby.

Speaking of gynae check up, I discovered I had lost half a kilo. So the nurse asked me to lie down and strapped me up. She had to take my baby's heart beat for 20 minutes. Oh how I wish my hubby was there with me. But he was at work.

The baby's heartbeat was fine. Dr Chin was wondering how I could lose weight at nearly the end of the pregnancy. I faked a sneeze or two and blamed it on the flu. haha... But I think it's the irritating cough I have. Wonder how to get rid of it.

The cough better be gone before the arrival of the baby. Coz it's no joke to cough after you have a C-section. Sigh... 2 more weeks to go!

- Happy Birthday to ME -

My son turned a BIG ONE on last Tuesday 29 May 2007. Unfortunately, he was too sick to celebrate. No cakes, no swimming pool, no outing, only medication. His mama was still sick too.

I wish he will grow bigger and walk faster and stay cute always. Muahz. I love him so much!!

- Graduation Ceremony -

One lucky chap. He was one of the latest TP Graduates to get to wear that graduation dress. At first, he wanted to rent it but after wearing it for half a day, he got shioked so he decided to keep it.

I didn't get to attend the whole ceremony, coz of our little son. So his parents went instead. I could see hubby was proud as hell to achieve something with his own effort.

I'm proud of him too!

- Illness -

On that very day too, my mil was actually not feeling well. However, she push aside her not feeling wellness and joined along with the whole day celebration for her son's happiness. Yah, we not only dragged her to our house, but to White Sands, Ikea & Courts Tampines and lastly Tampines Mart.

Hubby wanted so much for a LCD 37inch TV that he couldn't wait another day to buy it. And he bought it.

3 days later, he also managed to fixed our wall unit air condition in our master bedroom. He fixed it with a new one though. Lol.

Anyway, 2 days later after his graduation day, we woke up early to find our son having bloody high fever, while me having bad coughing and body aching. Hubby took half day leave and brought us to Pasir Ris Polyclinic. I must say, I don't like Polyclinic.

I hate queuing up early in the morning just to be able to be registered and served early. My son's temperature reached 39.6 degree celsius and the doctor only prescribed medication and nothing else, despite vomitting twice.

I was prescribed with what i'd like to call 'weak medication' as I was pregnant. The medication didn't help much for both me and my son. His temperature throughout the day was still in the range of 39 degree celsius.

By evening, hubby had to call my dad and told my parents that he wanted to bring Abdurrahman to KKH. So along with them, we went to KKH. I was still aching as hell, wearing 3 layers of clothing and socks. I vomitted once and after hubby saw me vomitting, he had a migraine. Our son vomitted again too.
At KKH, his temperature was 40.2 degree celsius. Helped was given, in a form of bed and pushed in the butt hole pill to bring down the temperature. He whimpered and cried restlessly. He didn't even want to sleep on the bed, instead on my 8 months belly.

We were there for 5 hours before doctor let us went home. Luckily he didn't see the need for our son to be admitted. Phew. But that night, hubby had to look after him coz I too had the fever. I was already too weak to look after him.
Next day, hubby brought me to see my Dr. Tan and 2-3 days later, I was cured and only needed to finish up the AntiBiotic. Abdurrahman's fever went up and down for the next 4 days and he started to cough. He has phlegm and he couldn't get the bloody thing out of his mouth.
Again, he would roll and whimpered and cried as he cough and cough, with tears running down his cheeks. It really was not a good thing for me to watch my son suffer, let me suffer, but not him.
The source of virus actually came from my sil. She got sick and then my mil got really sick. Followed by my fil and then my son and me and haha.. my mom! I won't deny being angry at the virus coz it hurts watching my son suffered so much and so long. But then, hubby too was awared of the situation and my feeling and he told me that he's banning anyone that is sick to go near my son in future.
But i was still angry. Then he told me to chill as he felt guilty too for he knew his mom was sick on that day and we went out instead of chilling at home. So my angry-ness subsided.
Then he thought everything was fine and falling back to normal, when he received a bad call from my sil that one night. He actually just returned from visiting his parents. My mil had passed out and was sent to SGH Emergency. Apparently, she stopped breathing for awhile.
I told hubby to use my dad's car and rushed over. My mil was admitted until now. She had minor heart attacks and will be in hospital for a couple of days as doctor tried to find the source of her attacks. Poor her.
So I prayed for her wellness soon. I'm truly sorry I can't be there as much as possible.
Oh by the way...I'm back at my own crib for 2-3 weeks, before going back to my parent's crib. I have exactly a month left before I'd be operated on again. Sigh.

Mother & Mother's In Law Birthdays

I'm having a headache as I'm updating this. It must be the hot weather and me non-stop sweating. Even my specs falling off my nose. Or probably my weird craving for Ben & Jerry Chocolate ice cream or any chocolate flavour cake... but i'm still having my hingus kluar dari hidung cough. arghh....

6May 2007

the cake.

my mother.

me with my 3rd niece, humairah.

my parents with the grandchildren...

That Sunday marked my mother's 58th year old birthday. Many many strangers think she is my sister instead of my mother. She is small and thin. Even though she has no illness, her worriness always triggers my alarm. She has low blood pressure and is underweight. haha.. best of all, she has been a housewife for god knows how long.

I was under the weather with super bad sore throat and watery nose. But I made it to my mom's lunch party at her request at Hajah Maimunah Geylang Serai. I requested her to fetch me from home since hubby was at work.

Brother came at the same time as us, sister was late for an house. That star-karaT~! Food at HM was okay. The service was okay until one of the server crashed into my dad and spilled asam pedas on his trouser. The atmosphere was noisy with a few young indonesia girls who kept on singing 'happy birthday' for an hour. The floor on the 2nd level was so slippery, i feared for my life.

Brother gave mom a birthday cake. Sister gave mom a microwave bowl. I gave mom an "Anna Sui" Eye and Lip Palette. Dad always gives mom things so we didn't know what he gives her this year, besides paying for the lunch.

The lunch ended and I went home to my mom's place and permanently parked myself at my bedroom until now. So as to say... I no longer staying at my own crib. =)

9 May 2007

at Takashimaya Nursing Room

my mother in law.

Yesterday marked my mother's inlaw 53th birthday. That was what hubby said of her age when I asked him "how old is your mother deaR?". He said he only guessed.

We started the day with a rush to the Gleneagles Hospital for my check up. Baby no.2 is fine, alive and growing fast. Dr/Chin warned me not to carry my son anymore as the babyno.2 head is facing downwards already. Jeez... i'll miss carrying him.

The day was grey and rain came and gone. Hubby brought me to eat at Lucky Plaza - Ayam Bakar and Ikan Bawal Bakar. So sedap! I like. Hubby was like a 5 year old child, drinking away 2 glasses of Soda Gembira. Crazy old man.

We spent the rest of the day, looking for his mother's gift before meeting her for dinner. It was tiring but I like retail exercise. Walking in and out of shops never bored me. At first, we were looking at watches. The watches I choose were kind of over the budget. The watches he choose didn't suit her at all.

Then we looked at handbags. We went to Mango, Zara and Guess to check out the variety and price. His sister didn't have time to look for her mother's gift. So I took pictures and mms her for choices.

After 2 hours of walking... hubby gave up on the idea of buying a handbag for his mom due to lack of cash. By then, I already made a purchase of a MNG shirt. Hee... SAHM nie asyik shopping ajer...

I told hubby to use our son's money first if he really has not much left. But he has to return back the money to his son, lah. It's not nice not to have a gift for someone special. That cheered him up and he purchased the MNG handbag that he liked for his mom to use. It's black and quite big and modern.

We went to Yishun next to meet up with her at Along's house and continued to wait for his sister for dinner. Dinner was at Lestari at blk 700+. We ordered a variety of food, mostly seafood. Hubby and I had to finished up the food after seeing a lot of leftover.

Hubby then gave the present to his mom and wished her, "happy birthday! Here's something from me, ila, abdurrahman and errr... aida". Tee hee hee, surprised, i didn't expect him to include my name, though... coz i sure didn't spend anything on her. hmmm....

the evening ended with a taxi ride home, both stomach about to burst and my son slept like there's no tomorrow.
Oh by the way, when is Mother's Day?

Next birthdays are My 2nd niece, Ayuni, My son and his fellow pal, Nursabilah.

A few short tales to tell...

To Stay or Just Go

My brother had admitted to secretly go for interview for an overseas job in New Zealand. I gave my blessings, so did the rest of the family.

Two days ago, he got a parcel from New Zealand. I gave him a call.

me: abang! you got mail from new zealand.
abg: eh. they really send it?
me: hmmm...
abg: so adik. kau nak join abg gi sana tak?
me: boleh jugak. tapi mana nak taruk fadli? dalam bag?
abg: hehehe....

Since he didn't have time to fetch it from my mom's home, he instructed my dad to open and read it on his behalf. Dad was supposed to call him after that.

But they didn't call him due to shockness. My brother has been given the golden opportunity to work in New Zealand. He is supposed to leave hometown on 1st July, The day I'd be operated. His pay will be in USD and much much bigger than his annual here.

Mom called me the next day.

Mak: mak da bilang abang kau, jangan pergi.
me: asal pulak?
Mak: Dia nak tinggalkan mak! New Zealand tu jauh. Apa-apa jadi, sapa nak jaga dia? lagipun hari dia nak berangkat, hari kau kena operate.
me: alah... pandai pandai dia lah hidup pat sana. Cam tak biasa.
Mak: mak nak bilang kat kak shida suruh abang kerja je kat sini.
me: salah tu mak. ini peluang dia. asal kak shida taknak ikut dia ke?
Mak: ye lar, mak tahu. mak takleh lah anak jantan mak tinggalkan mak. si shida tu lak nak start belajar lagi.
me: aik. pelik lah. mana lagi penting, ikut suami overseas ke stay put and study.
Mak: adik bilang abang jangan pergi ok.
me: no can do. tu abang nyer choice.
Mak: kalau adik dapat peluang cam gini?
me: adik pergi. mak tahukan. adik akan pergi punya.
Mak: ye lar. kau tahu nak cabut jek.
me: hahahaha.

So I've yet to talk to my brother regarding this topic. I haven't even tell my hubby about it. Seriously, if my brother wants to go, he should go even if his wife doesn't want to tag along. That's her problem lah. But just for the sake of my mom, I'll insert in a few 'please stay!'.

Family issues

I read my hubby's sister blog. She responded about my topic on Men/housework.

I should have inserted on the family background, the family brought up the boys and girls.

I was brought up, watching my dad helping my mom with the housework. I also watched my mom teaching my brother to do the housework. I don't see why men shouldn't do it. Yes I was lazy before marriage, thinking... 'aiyah mak ader per, mak bley buat'.

But once you live in your own home, with a partner in crime (whom you never live with before), things started to change.

So it is not a pleasant view to come upon when wife does everything. What does she gets in the end? Satisfaction, of course, coz she does everything. But sometimes, when you can't cope, its better to ask for help and not just keep quiet and silently doing it. Ever ask how she feels when she's doing it?

Another thing, doesn't mean being a full time housewife, staying at home the whole day isn't tiring.

And another thing about babies. Why can't the men help to bathe and feed them? It is a good way for the father and child to bond. Read that up in magazines or baby books.

Happy Meal

I'm recovered from last week blues. Hubby has been helpful this week, probably dued to his 10am go to work shift. I really like this shift, as he gets to wake up slightly later (accompany me in bed, haha).

He also gets to do the head of the family duty - go pasar, and fatherly's duty - bathe and feed son. Sometimes when I'm too lazy to wake up in the morning, he does his husbandly's duty - cook for breakfast/ lunch (so he can pack some to work).

And as for me, I still continue to do my assistant of the family duty - jaga rumah, motherly's duty - look after the son, and wifely's duty - cook, clean, laundry and iron.

so you see why i love this shift?

oh sidetrack abit. Yesterday Oprah's show and this Warna 94.2fm talk show at 3pm, both having the same topic - MEN. It made me nod, smile and giggle crazy.

Here was some issues brought forward (questions from women):
-why men love sex?
-why men still watch porn after marriage?
-why men are less cuddly in public?
-why men love football, golf, watch cartoons and play games?
-why men still go to stripper club?
-why men are cheat?
-what are they really thinking after sex?
- why men become lazy after marriage?

The answers to above really tickled me crazy.
- who doesn't love sex?
- why worry for us watching porn, its not as if the woman in the porn will come out from the tv.
- you should tell us if you want to hug or cuddle in public.
- we love game, sports as those make us manly, having to challenge with other mates. (huh)
- we go there to chill. no wrong in that area. (huh)
- men cheat with the same reason as women cheat. when there is no more intimacy in a relationship, they will fly to search for another.
- women think after sex "will we get marry, will our kids look gorgeous". while men think after sex "how do I get out from here, how about a steak, oh there's a football match!"
- this i like so much. men get lazy after marriage... hmph. Researches said that men who are not asked to do anything during their bachelor years (mummy does everything for them) are more likely to be lazy and unhelpful when they get married.HAHAHA.

so who to blame? Mummy? (wah i give one tight slap then you know!)

Haha but seriously. Whoever come up with a phrase that men can't help wife to do houseworks? That person deserves a tight slap from new generation wife club.

Scenario 1: Mummy (working or housewife) should be blamed when:
- son too pampered.
- don't even know how to fry egg or cook rice.
- never wash their own plates or cups
- never do laundry by machine or hand
- never hang or fold clothes
- never wash their own socks or shoes (school time lah)
- never clean their own room.
- never touch a broom or vacuum or mop
- never clean a toilet, wash windows
- never go wet-market
- never pray
- worst of all, never change a broken bulb.
- second worst of all, depend financially on mummy or wife. (ada tau)

Scenario 2: Mummy (working or housewife) cannot be blamed when:
- son still pampered.
- mummy never train or encourage the son to do housework but the son learns to do it by himself, or being encourage by wife.
- learns to pray.
- can fix/change broken things.
- build and look after their own financial.

See the huge difference? so as a mama of 1 son, I plan to train him to do housework, especially ironing his own clothes. (talk big ah mama aida) oh well, why not? But don't sampai wife take advantage pulak lar kan....

oh ok another sidetrack. i'm deleting 278 unread messages from my email. lazy to read at all. mostly from multiply updates. aiyah........
